Lucas is an LA-based Brazilian-American writer who is passionate about telling stories that challenge the audience’s view of morality and highlight social injustices. Often being the funny one in the group, Lucas began translating his humor and passion for story-telling into scripts during his time at The Ohio State University where he minored in Screenwriting. Knowing that the move to Los Angeles was inevitable, he attended UCLA and pursued an MFA in Screenwriting.
As the son of two Brazilian immigrant parents who moved around growing up, Lucas’ perspective of the world has been molded and shaped by the diverse group of people he’s interacted with. Having lived in several cities, Lucas often felt like the newcomer and outsider which has made themes such as "fitting in" and "being yourself” prominent in his work. Lucas loves the gray space between comedy and drama, believing that therein lies the truth within people.
Lucas believes that things aren't so black and white in life. By writing moments that make viewers laugh when they shouldn't, his hope is to create a space for dialogue that can influence positive change. With still much to learn, he is excited and ready to take the next step.
